Objective: Create a blended pastel drawing of a martian as described in the book War of the Worlds.

Studio Process:
1) Practice by creating a blended color wheel and seven different pastel techniques following provided handout in sketchbook.
2) Listen to War of the Worlds excerpt and live radio coverage about the book and its alarming public response.
3) Develop notes and sketches towards your character drawing based on desciption in audio and read in text from the book.
4) Create a martian from your imagination on a large paper showing a background, depth, detail, blending, mark-making, and a story!
