- Take a PHOTO OF YOUR FACE, looking at the camera. Use a strong light source (lamp) against a white wall. Save to student folder.
- CLICK HERE to access your photo.
- Click the UP ARROW to download file, then drop down from FILE menu and 'Make a Copy'.
- Save this copy as PORTRAIT in your STUDENT DRIVE (click on it on the left side of window!)
- Right click saved file within your Student Drive and choose 'Open with...' and choose PHOTOSHOP.
- Follow the following directions in Photoshop to make a LAYERED VALUE PORTRAIT.
- IMAGE -> IMAGE SIZE -> change WIDTH: 8 INCHES & RESOLUTION 200 (keep proportionate!)
- IMAGE -> CANVAS SIZE -> change HEIGHT: 10 INCHES
- Allow cropping and save.
- ADJUSTMENT -> MODE - > GRAYSCALE
- ADJUSTMENT -> CONTRAST/BRIGHTNESS -> make both higher [drag tab to right]
- FILTER -> ARTISTIC -> CUT-OUT
- CUT-OUT: Adjust LEVELS to 2-4 and EDGE SIMPLICITY to show ~3 values + good detail
- SAVE file
- PRINT -> 8x10 inch image at 100% on PORTRAIT orientation
- Write NAME on top and turn in.
PART 2 | GRID DRAWING
1.Starting at each corner, mark at 1 inch around entire image (edge of photo, not the edge of the page).
2. LIGHTLY connect marks to make a 1 inch grid. Label A-H across bottom and 1-10 up the side.
PAINT + CRAFT
3. Starting at each corner, mark at 1.5 inch around paper edge.
4. LIGHTLY connect marks to make a 1.5 inch grid. Label A-H across bottom and 1-10 up the side.
5. LIGHTLY redraw shapes moving from cell to cell, enlarge the image.
6. ERASE off grid lines when done and label BLACK and GRAY shapes lightly.
PAINT + CRAFT
7. PAINT gray shapes first, and BLACK SHAPES LAST filling in entire paper. Show as much detail as possible with the tip of your brush.
8. ERASE any additional pencil marks and your work is finished!
